His name is Brett A. Enright and at fourteen years old he had a dream about becoming an entrepreneur. His family was in the special event concession business, and following in his father's footsteps he embarked on his own independent concessions business. Applying basic market research and evaluating potential opportunities, Brett opened his first Corn Dog stand in 1984. With an initial loan of $40,000 from his grandfather Thomas Enright, an entrepreneur spirit, and family knowledge, Brett's Blue Ribbon Foods began.
The seed investment allowed the company to purchase a trailer, inventory, and have enough cash for startup working capital. In the company's first year of operations, Brett was successful in getting his small trailer at several major fairs and festivals. At the time he was the youngest independent concessionaire in the Western United States and was profiled in Amusement Business magazine. Hard work coupled with a commitment to great service proved to be a successful formula. In less than two years, the initial loan plus interest was paid off.
The company grew slowly for the next 8 years. Brett was able to juggle the day to day obligations of high school education and then at Arizona State University and still effectively operate the business during summers.
During his second year in college, Brett saw another opportunity to expand through a strategic acquisition. One of his chief competitors offered to sell his business. Brett was able to get the seller to carry the note. Now in control, in his first year of operating the newly acquired business, Brett was successful in increasing sales by 65%. In 1992, two years after the acquisition, Blue Ribbon Foods increased sales by over 200%. Moreover, the company had no debt; the seller's note was paid in full, several years ahead of schedule.
From 1992 to 1997, the company remained stable. However, on one magical night in 1997, Brett met the woman of his dreams, and won the slot machine jackpot in Las Vegas on their first date. He married the girl, and used the money he had won as a deposit to buy out his father’s business, Enright Foods.
Over the last nine years Brett and his wife have created a family of four beautiful children and have expanded the company to the point where it is now, one of the strongest concession companies in the West.
In 2004, Brett began the process of creating a more structured company and created Brett's Blue Ribbon Foods. Armed with greater revenues and a desire to create the best experience for fair goers, Brett had purchased a custom built concession trailer that earned an industry award for the Most Impressive trailer to date. In 2006, sales soared and in 2007, Brett continued to hone his craft and strategically brought on other key members to assist in growing the business. As a result, revenues doubled.
Now in 2008, Brett's Blue Ribbon Foods, LLC renamed Juicys™ is now embarking on making Outdoor Dining an Event. This year, Juicys™ has already unveiled the world's largest grill, Juicys™ Outlaw Grill, and has also created Juicys™ Funnel Cake Sundae. At the Houston Rodeo, folks gave the Outlaw Grill rave reviews and Juicys™ Funnel Cake Sundae which premiers in May will certainly raise the bar in desserts. The dedication to provide the best to its customers is paying off. Not bad for a 14 year kid who started selling a few corn dogs.
